Caps For Newborns! This project was begun by the staff of the Southern Peaks Public Library as an ongoing service project to knit and crochet caps for newborns (10-12" circumference). Join them in providing about 60 soft, washable caps (in acrylic or washable wool) a month to meet the needs of the nursery. Please bring completed caps to Southern Peaks Library (423 4th St, Alamosa) for distribution.

SLV Regional Medical Center Oncology Department. Over the past 5 years, an average of 185 new cases of cancer have been reported annually in the San Luis Valley. SLVRMC treats 3-5 new patients a month. KnitHappens members knit "caring shawls" and "lapghans" to offer warmth, caring and comfort to those undergoing cancer treatments. The SLV Cancer Relief Fund partners with KnitHappens to assist with distribution to hospital staff who place the knitted items with patients.

Hospice del Valle. This San Luis Valley organization provides a wide range of medical and social services to terminally ill patients and their families/caregivers. Needs include comfort shawls for patients and family, afghans, and soft hats and slippers.
